A.S. TO B.S. PHYSICAL EDUCATION: PRE-ATHLETIC TRAINING/PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY
Effective Date: 9/1/2016 - 8/1/2017
Completion of the following curriculum will satisfy the requirements for an Associate in Science degree at KCTCS and related baccalaureate A.S. TO B.S. PHYSICAL EDUCATION: PRE-ATHLETIC TRAINING/PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY degree at Eastern Kentucky University. This pathway
meets the general education, pre-major, and program requirements.
The suggested courses in this pathway leads to an Associate and Baccalaureate major. The course
recommendations for the first two years are required for the Baccalaureate degree, but also apply to the
associate degree. The completion of these courses will enable a student to move efficiently into the last
two years of the baccalaureate program.
It is important to discuss revisions to the plan, graduation requirements, entrance requirements, and other
important program requirements with your advisor. Students who complete the associate degree in this pathway are
guaranteed acceptance into the pathway as stated, unless otherwise noted on the pathway.

Pre-Transfer Notes
Students planning to transfer to EKU are encouraged to join the Colonel Connection in their first semester at KCTCS to take full advantage of the transfer planning services. http://colonelconnection.eku.edu
AHS 115/HSA 200 and EMS 105/EMC 110 are additional classes that can be completed prior to transfer at some KCTCS schools.
Additional KCTCS Graduation Requirements
1. | Completion of minimum of 60 credit hours, |
2. | Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, |
3. | Minimum of 15 credit hours earned at the institution awarding the degree, |
4. | Cultural studies course, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
5. | Demonstration of computer/digital literacy, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
6. | One science course must include a laboratory experience, and |
7. | Two disciplines must be represented in Social & Behavioral Science courses and must be different than those in the Heritage and Humanities categories. |

Students may need to take take additional courses based on which graduate program(s) they pursue.
Students completing the BS in PE: Pre-AT/ Pre-PT Option will be eligible to apply to the EKU MS in AT Professional program in addition to being able to apply to other MS in AT programs through ATCAS (Centralized Application Service for Athletic Training), students will also have the pre-requisites to apply to DPT programs through PTCAS (Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service).
Students must understand MS in AT and DPT programs are professional graduate allied healthcare programs, which are highly competitive for admission and students will need to maintain high cum GPA’s and high science pre-requisite course GPA’s. Each professional program's exact admission requirements will vary and students are encouraged to review the pre-requisites of programs to which they desire to apply through ATCAS or PTCAS and meet with their advisor.
Students planning to apply to EKU’s MS in AT Professional Program will still need to meet the EKU graduate school admission requirements for GPA, GRE Exam Scores and TOEFEL Exam as needed.
Students upon completion of the BS in PE: Pre-AT/Pre-PT are eligible to take the CSCS Exam and will be eligible upon successful completion of EMT course to be a certified EMT-Basic.
