ACCOUNTING

Completion of the following curriculum will satisfy the requirements for an Associate in Science degree at KCTCS and related baccalaureate ACCOUNTING degree at University of Kentucky. This pathway
meets the general education, pre-major, and program requirements.
The suggested courses in this pathway leads to an Associate and Baccalaureate major. The course
recommendations for the first two years are required for the Baccalaureate degree, but also apply to the
associate degree. The completion of these courses will enable a student to move efficiently into the last
two years of the baccalaureate program.
It is important to discuss revisions to the plan, graduation requirements, entrance requirements, and other
important program requirements with your advisor. Students who complete the associate degree in this pathway are
guaranteed acceptance into the pathway as stated, unless otherwise noted on the pathway.

Pre-Transfer Notes
Completion of the following curriculum will satisfy both the requirements for an Associate in Science degree at any KCTCS institution as well as the UK Core requirements for the University of Kentucky and most of the pre-major requirements for the Accounting major in the Gatton College of Business and Economics.
KCTCS students planning to transfer to the University of Kentucky should work closely with their academic and transfer advisors each semester to ensure they are addressing both KCTCS and UK requirements.
ENG 203 is not a major requirement, but is a recommended elective to prepare students for CIS 300: Strategic Business and Professional Communication at UK. If a student chooses not to enroll in ENG 203, the student should consult with his or her academic advisor to select an elective course.
Additional KCTCS Graduation Requirements
1. | Completion of minimum of 60 credit hours, |
2. | Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, |
3. | Minimum of 15 credit hours earned at the institution awarding the degree, |
4. | Cultural studies course, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
5. | Demonstration of computer/digital literacy, (Refer to the KCTCS catalog.) |
6. | One science course must include a laboratory experience, and |
7. | Two disciplines must be represented in Social & Behavioral Science courses and must be different than those in the Heritage and Humanities categories. |

Program Notes
The Gatton College of Business & Economics is a selective admissions college. To be accepted into the college, you will need to have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA. To be admitted into upper-division courses you must have at least a 2.8 pre-major GPA in the following courses: ENG 101+102, COM course (181, 252, 281 or 287), MA 113 (or MAT 170 + MA 162/MAT 165), ACC 201+202, ECO 201+202, STA 291, and B&E 105 (to be completed at UK).
